D-Backs' Drew fractures ankle on slide
By Sports Network

Diamondbacks shortstop Stephen Drew will likely need surgery after fracturing his right ankle on a play at the plate Wednesday night in the fourth inning against the Brewers.

Drew was trying to score from second base on Chris Young's hit to left field when he slid feet-first across the plate and came in contact with catcher Jonathan Lucroy's shins.

Lucroy applied the tag and Drew was out, but he remained on the ground in obvious pain. Replays showed significant movement in his right foot and ankle after the slide. He was helped off the field with only his left foot touching the ground.

One play later, Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez fractured his left clavicle on an inning-ending diving catch after coming down hard on the turf in shallow left-center.

Drew, who had led off the inning with a double, is batting .252 in his sixth season with Arizona. He signed a two-year contract in the offseason.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
