LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly fired Steve Garvey from his position in the marketing and community relations department.

The Los Angeles Times was one of the media sources to report the 10-time All- Star and 1974 NL MVP was canned from his position.

The 62-year-old Garvey was reportedly fired because of his criticism of Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and Garvey's desire to being involved in a group to purchase the team.

Garvey played for the Dodgers from 1969-82 and finished his career with 272 home runs.
