Boston's Beckett leaves game
By Sports Network

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Josh Beckett departed Friday's contest against Baltimore after five innings due to a mildly hyperextended left knee.

Beckett, who allowed seven hits and three runs, was in line for the victory as Boston led 8-3 going to the sixth inning. The right-hander, who threw 50 of his 68 pitches for strikes, was replaced by Matt Albers.

During the top of the fifth, Beckett slipped off the mound after delivering a pitch in the wet conditions at Fenway Park. The grounds crew spread a substance to dry the mound area, but Beckett stayed in the game and finished the inning by striking out Vladimir Guerrero, but not before allowing three runs in the frame.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
