Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau is slated to undergo neck surgery next week.

The club revealed the news on Friday evening, prior to the start of a three- game interleague set with the Brewers, that Morneau will undergo a procedure to relieve pressure on a pinched nerve.

The surgery involves the removal of a herniated disc fragment.

Morneau, currently on the 15-day disabled list because of a sore left wrist, is not expected back in the lineup until mid-August.

The 30-year-old native of suburban Vancouver was batting .225 with four homers, 12 doubles and 21 RBI in 55 games before this double dose of misfortune hit.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
