Mets' Reyes placed on bereavement list
By Sports Network

NEW YORK - Mets shortstop Jose Reyes has been placed on the bereavement list after the death of his grandmother in the Dominican Republic.

Reyes is expected to miss three to seven days.

He leads the Mets with a .335 batting average and also has a National League-leading 19 stolen bases. Reyes has been one of the hottest hitters in the league this season, recording multiple hits in a major-league leading 26 games.

In another roster move, the Mets activated pitcher Bobby Parnell from the 15- day disabled list.

Parnell was placed on the disabled list on April 20th because of circulatory problems in his right middle finger. He has appeared in eight games this season, posting an 0-1 record with a 6.14 ERA in 7 1/3 innings.
