DENVER, Colo. -- A 27-year-old man who was critically injured while sliding down a staircase rail at Coors Field, has died.
The Denver Post reported that Robert Seamans of Pueblo, Colorado, was declared brain dead at Denver Health Medical Center soon after the accident, which occurred during Colorado's 12-4 win over Arizona on Tuesday afternoon, in a stairwell on the concourse level near upper-level seating dubbed the "Rockpile."
According to the paper, witnesses told investigators that Seamans was attempting to slide down the railing, lost his balance, fell off and struck his head. Seamans was officially declared dead on Wednesday night and his organs harvested for transplantation.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of one of our fans," the Rockies said in a statement issued Thursday. "Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and friends of this young man as we all grieve for his loss."
