Braves place Beachy on DL
By

Sports Network

The Braves have placed pitcher Brandon Beachy on the 15-day disabled list, two days after he suffered a strained left oblique muscle.

Beachy sustained the injury during an at-bat in the second inning of Friday's game against Philadelphia. He then started to warm up for the third inning, but pulled up lame and left the contest.

The rookie right-hander has pitched well for Atlanta this season, posting a 3.45 earned run average and 1-1 record in eight starts.

The DL move is retroactive to May 14 and opened a roster spot, which the Braves filled by purchasing the contract of reliever Scott Proctor from Triple-A Gwinnett.

The right-hander appeared in six games for Atlanta at the end of last season, his first major league activity since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2009.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
