The Texas Rangers placed outfielder Julio Borbon on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of left hamstring inflammation.

Borbon left Friday's game against the Angels with a hamstring injury after running down a fly ball in the top of the seventh. He has hit .270 with a .305 on-base percentage and 11 RBI in 32 games this season.

To fill Borbon's roster spot on the 25-man roster, the Rangers purchased the contract of outfielder Endy Chavez from Triple-A Round Rock. The 33-year-old veteran has not played in the majors since 2009, and was hitting .305 with eight doubles, two triples and two homers in 30 games with Round Rock.

The Rangers also transferred pitcher Brandon Webb from the 15-day to the 60- day disabled list, making room for Chavez on the 40-man roster.

Webb opened the season on the DL while he recovered from right rotator cuff surgery. His placement on the 60-day DL is retroactive to opening day, meaning Webb could come off the list May 30.
