ANAHEIM - Angels outfielder Vernon Wells has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with an adductor strain in his right groin.

The injury occurred in the fourth inning of Monday's 8-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox when Wells was running to first base on a ground out.

The 13-year-veteran is batting just .183 with four home runs and 13 RBI in 35 games with the Angels this season.

He was acquired from Toronto on January 21 with four years left on a seven- year contract he signed with the Blue Jays, who he had spent his entire career with.

The Angels recalled outfielder Reggie Willits from Triple-A Salt Lake to fill the roster spot. He has played six games with the Angels this season and is 0- for-7 with three strikeouts.
