The Cincinnati Reds have activated outfielder Fred Lewis off the 15-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Jeremy Hermida to Triple-A Louisville.
Lewis had been on the disabled list all season because of a strained right oblique muscle. He played 15 games in a minor league rehab assignment and batted .279.
The 30-year-old veteran is in his first season with Cincinnati after signing as a free agent in February. He spent the 2010 campaign with Toronto after playing his first four years with San Francisco, and is a career .272 hitter in 436 big league games.
Hermida had appeared in 10 games for the Reds this season and had just two hits, including a homer, in 18 at-bats.
