Orioles place Matusz on DL By Sports Network

St. Petersburg, FL - The Baltimore Orioles placed left-handed pitcher Brian Matusz on the 15-day disabled list and recalled lefty Zach Britton from Triple-A Norfolk.

Matusz, who is suffering from a strained left intercostal muscle, is scheduled to see the club's orthopedist on Monday. His move is retroactive to March 30.

In 32 starts last season, Matusz went 10-12 with a 4.30 earned run average.

The 23-year-old Britton will make his major league debut against Tampa Bay on Sunday. He led the Orioles with a team-best 1.35 ERA in spring training, but did not survive the team's final cuts and was sent to Norfolk, although it was expected that he would be recalled some time in the early part of the season.
