Twins avoid arbitration with Young

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Minnesota Twins have avoided arbitration with outfielder Delmon Young and agreed to a one-year contract worth $5.375 million.

Young batted .298 with career bests of 46 doubles, 21 homers and 112 runs batted in over 153 games for the Twins last year. He led the club with 170 hits and his doubles total tied for the second-most in Twins history.

The 25-year-old veteran has spent the past three seasons in Minnesota after playing his first two years with Tampa Bay. He is a career .292 hitter with 59 homers and 344 RBI in 605 games.
