KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Royals have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with pitcher Jeff Francis, pending a physical exam.

No terms of the deal were released.

The North Delta, B.C., left-hander struggled to a 4-10 record and a 5.00 earned run average in 20 games -- 19 starts -- for the Colorado Rockies last season after returning from shoulder surgery that kept him sidelined during the entire 2009 campaign.

The 30-year-old Francis has a career mark of 55-50 with a 4.77 ERA in 149 starts and one relief outing over six seasons. He ranks third on the Rockies all-time wins list and also won two games during the 2007 post-season when Colorado reached the World Series for the only time in franchise history.
