Angels, Callaspo avoid arbitration

ANAHEIM -- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with infielder Alberto Callaspo, avoiding arbitration.

The 27-year-old Callaspo was acquired from Kansas City on July 22 of last season and batted .249 with two home runs and 13 runs batted in over 58 games in his return to his original organization.

Overall, he hit .265 with 10 homers and 56 RBI in 146 games in 2010 with the two teams.

Callaspo is a .278 career hitter with 21 homers and 158 RBI over five seasons with the Diamondbacks, Royals and Angels.

He signed with the Angels as a non-drafted free agent in 2001.
