Pirates sign Burres By Sports Network

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Pirates signed pitcher Brian Burres to a minor league contract on Monday.

Burres made 13 starts and seven appearances out of Pittsburgh's bullpen last year, pitching to a 4-5 record with a 4.99 earned-run average.

The 29-year-old lefty has appeared in 101 games -- 54 starts -- in five seasons at the big-league level. Overall he is 17-25 with a 5.83 ERA and 1.64 walks/hits per innings pitched in stints with Baltimore, Toronto and Pittsburgh.
