CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox agreed to a three-year, $13-million contract with Toronto-born reliever Jesse Crain on Monday.

The 29-year-old was a free agent from Minnesota and will receive $4 million in 2011, while making $4.5 million the next two years.

During the 2010 season, Crain went 1-1 with a 3.04 earned-run average and 62 strikeouts in 71 appearances. The season included a streak of 21 consecutive scoreless innings from June 12-Aug. 4.

Over seven years with the Twins, he posted a 33-21 record for a 3.42 ERA in 376 relief outings. Crain's most productive season came in 2005 when he posted a career-best 12 wins with a 2.71 ERA.

Minnesota originally picked him in the second round of the 2002 draft.
