The awards are piling up for Cincinnati Reds slugger Joey Votto.

The 27-year-old first baseman was announced Tuesday as the winner of the Lou Marsh Award as Canada's outstanding athlete.

Votto hit .324 with 37 home runs and 113 RBIs in 2010, capping off his season by winning the National League MVP award.

Also during the past week, the native of Etobicoke, Ont., was selected as the Toronto Sun sportsman of the year and was chosen to receive the Tip O'Neill Award as the top Canadian player in baseball. The latter was presented by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Marsh Award is determined annually by a media panel and presented by the Toronto Star.
