LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed outfielder Tony Gwynn, Jr. to a one-year contract.

Gwynn, the son of the San Diego Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, appeared in 117 games last season for the Padres, but hit a mere .204 and was not offered a contract by the team at the end of the season.

A second-round pick of Milwaukee in 2003, Gwynn is a .244 lifetime hitter with five home runs, 56 RBI and 42 stolen bases in 366 games for the Brewers and Padres.
