LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms with outfielder Matt Diaz, signing him to a two-year deal.

Financial details were not released, but reports indicate that the pact is worth just over $4 million. The deal, though, won't be finalized until Diaz passes a physical.

Diaz spent the last five seasons as a part-time player for the Atlanta Braves, who chose not to offer him a contract after this past season. In 84 games with the Braves, Diaz hit .250 with seven home runs and 31 RBI.

An original draft pick of the Rays in 1999, Diaz has also played for Kansas City. He is a lifetime .301 hitter with 43 home runs and 192 RBI in 559 games.
