ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves have acquired reliever Scott Linebrink from the Chicago White Sox.

The Braves dealt pitching prospect Kyle Cofield to the White Sox, while also acquiring cash considerations.

In Linebrink, the Braves get a veteran right-handed arm to add to their bullpen. The 34-year-old spent the last three seasons with Chicago, and in 2010 posted a 4.40 earned run average in 52 appearances. He also struck out 52 and walked 17 in 57 1/3 innings.

Linebrink has played for San Diego, Houston, San Francisco, Milwaukee and the White Sox in 11 major league seasons. In 543 career games (six starts), he owns a 3.50 ERA and 38-27 record.

Cofield, 23, was an eighth-round selection by the Braves in the 2005 draft. The right-hander split last season between Atlanta's rookie-ball team in the Gulf Coast League and Double-A Mississippi.
