D'Backs acquire Yankees' Miranda

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The Arizona Diamondbacks shipped minor league pitcher Scott Allen to the New York Yankees in exchange for infielder Juan Miranda on Thursday.

Miranda had two short stints with the Yankees in the 2008 and '09 seasons and played 33 games for the big club last year, hitting .219 with three homers and 10 RBI.

In 80 games in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2010, the 27-year-old batted .285 with 52 runs scored, 15 home runs and 43 RBI.

Allen, a 19-year-old right-hander, spent last season in Single-A South Bend, compiling a 4-4 record with 4.73 earned run average and 79 strikeouts in 16 starts (78 innings).
