Steinbrenner among nominees for Hall of Fame

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and former New York manager Billy Martin are among the 12 individuals who will be considered by the Expansion Era Committee for induction into the 2011 Hall of Fame class.

Former union head Marvin Miller and former general manager Pat Gillick are also on the ballot along with players Vida Blue, Dave Concepcion, Steve Garvey, Ron Guidry, Tommy John, Al Oliver, Ted Simmons and Rusty Staub.

In order to be elected, a nominee must appear on at least 75 percent of the 16 ballots.

The results of the vote will be announced on December 6 at the winter meetings in Orlando, Florida.
