PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Phillies announced Tuesday the declining of pitcher J.C. Romero's contract option for the 2011 season.

Romero spent parts of the last four seasons with the Phillies, including their 2008 World Series championship club. In 60 games for Philadelphia in 2010, the lefty went 1-0 with a 3.68 earned run average, though he walked one more batter (29) than he struck out (28) in 36 2/3 innings.

In the 2010 postseason, Romero retired all three batters he faced. In 213 regular season games for the Phillies from 2007-10, Romero went 6-6 with a 2.60 ERA in 148 2/3 innings.

Over 12 seasons with Minnesota, Philadelphia, Boston and the Angels, Romero is 33-28 with a 4.08 ERA.
