MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota Twins All-Star catcher Joe Mauer is expected to miss a few games this week after injuring his knee on Sunday.

Mauer grounded out in the sixth inning of a 6-2 loss to Oakland and noticed pain in his left knee, the same knee in which he tore his meniscus in 2004.

The reigning American League MVP is currently listed as day-to-day, though the Twins don't believe the injury to be serious.

Mauer is hitting .331 this season with nine homers and 74 RBI for the AL Central-leading Twins, who own a comfortable 10-game cushion over second-place Chicago entering Monday's play.
