WASHINGTON, DC -- Washington Nationals outfielder Nyjer Morgan will be suspended for eight games starting Friday, according to MLB.com, which cites a baseball source.

Morgan was appealing two suspensions that totaled 15 games.

In a game against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on August 21, Morgan intentionally threw a baseball into the stands. The ball hit a fan in the crowd. That incident resulted in a seven-game suspension.

The 30-year-old Morgan was also given an eight-game ban for using inappropriate language toward fans and having a physical altercation with Marlins right-hander Chris Volstad on September 1 at Sun Life Stadium.

Morgan charged the mound in the sixth inning after Volstad threw a pitch behind the left-handed batter.
