Pittsburgh - The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms with 16-year-old Mexican pitcher Luis Heredia on Thursday.

The Pirates paid a $2.6 million signing bonus to secure the pitcher's rights from his Veracruz team, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Pittsburgh has loaded up on young hurlers in recent days, also signing 18- year-old first-round draft pick Jameson Taillon and 19-year-old second-round selection Stetson Allie.

Heredia's reported signing bonus is by far the largest the organization has given to an international amateur player, but the 6-foot-6 Heredia already throws in the low 90s at such a young age.
