Flushing, NY - New York Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez was reportedly taken in custody by police at Citi Field following Wednesday night's 6-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies.

Multiple reports say Rodriguez was accused of punching his father-in-law in the face in the family room at the stadium just before 11 p.m.

The New York Post reported the father-in-law was hospitalized with facial bruises and minor head injuries and that K-Rod was charged with assault.

The 28-year-old Rodriguez, who is 4-2 with a 2.24 ERA this season, has converted his last four save opportunities and has 25 of them this season. He wasn't used in Wednesday's game as the Mets fell one game below .500 (56-57) and are mired in fourth place in the NL East, 9 1/2 games behind division- leading Atlanta.
