DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers activated third baseman Brandon Inge off the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday, just two weeks after he broke the fifth metacarpal on his left hand.

On July 19, Rangers starter Scott Feldman had a fastball tail off the plate and in on Inge's hands during the third inning. The third baseman tried to spin away from the pitch, but could not avoid the contact, with his pinky finger absorbing the blow.

He was expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks but was activated after just one rehab game at Single-A West Michigan.

In 88 games this season, Inge is batting .263 with six home runs and 40 RBI. The 33-year-old hit 27 homers and drove in 84 runs while holding a .230 average over 161 games in 2009.

To open a spot on the roster, the Tigers placed infielder Danny Worth on the 15-day DL with a bruised left heel. Worth has hit .255 with a pair of home runs and eight RBI in 39 games for the big club this year.
