PHOENIX -- Washington Nationals rookie Stephen Strasburg could return to the rotation next Tuesday.

Strasburg has been on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder. He was scratched from a July 27 start against Atlanta after having trouble warming up prior to the contest and hasn't pitched since July 22.

Nationals manager Jim Riggleman indicated Tuesday night that Strasburg would have a simulated game on Thursday and a bullpen session on Saturday. If all goes well, the 22-year-old right-hander will make the start against next Tuesday against Florida.

Strasburg, one of the most-heralded prospects since being selected as the top overall pick of the June 2009 draft, is off to an electric start since his recall from the minors earlier this year. He has a record of 5-2 with a 2.32 earned run average, 75 strikeouts and only 15 walks in 54 1/3 innings.
