SEATTLE - Minnesota Twins right fielder Michael Cuddyer was put on the bereavement list following Wednesday's 2-1, 10-inning loss to the Mariners.

Cuddyer will miss the next four games due to the death of his father-in-law. He is expected to fly to Virginia on Thursday to attend the funeral and will be out for a weekend series in Oakland. Cuddyer is expected to rejoin the team for the start of a series at home against Kansas City on Tuesday.

Cuddyer homered in Wednesday's game and is batting .279 with seven homers and 29 RBI this season.

The Twins also recalled third baseman Danny Valencia from Triple-A Rochester.

Twins infielder Alexi Casilla will have arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow on Friday to remove a bone spur and bone chips. He'll be out 4-to-8 weeks.
