What a major-league scout says: "I saw him in Philadelphia earlier this season and he made the best defensive play I've seen (this season).

"With a man on first, Pat Burrell lines a ball down the line, Wright dives, the ball takes a funny hop, he makes the adjustment and winds up on the foul line facing the stands. He gets up, squares his shoulders and has the presence of mind to throw a strike to second and they turn a double play.

"There are about six scouts in our row and the question was 'Have you seen a better defensive play this season?' The answer was no. Off the bat the ball is a double in the corner, maybe a run, and this kid turns it into a double play."

"He shows great power the other way which everyone loves in a young guy. He's usually behind Carlos Delgado and gives that lineup the balance it needs."
