Saves this week by reliever T.J Burton of Ottawa for the single-A Kinston Indians. Burton now has seven on the season. He's the nephew of former all-America netminder and Ottawa-Canadians catcher Billy Courchaine.

Years in the minors for Yurendell DeCaster before being promoted to the Pirates. He pinch-ran in the ninth of a 3-2 loss to tCleveland, but didn't get an at-bat in three games before being sent back to triple-A Indianapolis.

Wins for Indians lefty C.C. Sabathia, in 17 starts since Aug. 5 of 2005. He has won 13 of 15 decisions with a 1.91 ERA. In six starts this year he's 4-1, 1.52 ERA and, in his past three, he has a 1.04 ERA, with 27 strikeouts in 26 innings.

Scoreless innings pitched for Atlanta Braves right-hander John Smoltz in two starts against the San Diego Padres this season. In his past 15 starts against San Diego, Smoltz is 10-1 with a 1.30 earned-run average.
