Total number of hits the Cleveland Indians managed in a 5-0 Jake Westbrook complete-game shutout victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. DH Travis Hafner hit a grand slam off Royals starter Jeremy Affeldt.

RBIs by Scott Thorman in a 7-0 triple-A Richmond (Braves) win over Columbus on Thursday. The Cambridge first baseman hit a two-run bomb to centre in the second and a two-out grand slam to right off Matt DeSalvo.

Wins by the San Diego Padres over the Cubs, which was historic for two reasons: The Cubs had never gone winless in a season series beyond six games and the Padres had never swept a season series of at least seven.
