Padres crush D-backs

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) -- Brett Bonvechio keyed a seven-run sixth inning with a three-run homer, lifting the San Diego Padres to a 17-9 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday in a split-squad game for both teams.

Bonvechio homered off Mike Schultz, who committed a three-base throwing error that allowed two runs to score in the inning.

Padres second baseman Jesse Garcia went 4-for-6 with two singles, a double and a triple. Xavier Nady hit a two-run homer for San Diego in the fourth, Geoff Blum had two hits and three RBIs, and Drew Macias added a homer, single and two RBIs.
