Either lots of hits or none at all.

Randy Schwartz had plenty of knocks for the High Point Panthers. Schwartz was 9-for-14 (.643) with four doubles, a homer and seven RBIs.

In fact he earned Choice Hotels co-player of the week.

And then we have Shawn Loglisci who didnít allow a hit as the Indiana Tech Warriors blanked the Concordia-Michigan Cardinals 2-0 at Ann Arbor, Mich.

And Matt Braumberger pitched a no hitter for the Friends Falcons in a 17-1 win against the Sterling Warriors at Sterling, Kan.

So Braumberger (senior, Sudbury, Ont.), of Friends; Loglisci (junior, Victoria, BC), of Indiana Tech and High Pointís Schwartz (junior, Kleinburg, Ont.) share our SLAM! Canadian Baseball College Players of the Week honours for Week Eight.

The weekly award, belated as it is, recognizes the best of the 685 Canadians who play baseball south of the border.

The trio beat out the likes of Bryan Abrey (freshman, Richmond, BC), of the Merced Blue Devils; Yannick Bergeron (senior, Sherbrooke, Que.), of St. Edward's Hilltoppers; Andrew Brock, of the Albertson Coyotes; David Cooper (junior, Edmonton, Alta.), of the Mount Olive Trojans; Lars Davis (junior, Grand Prairie, Alta.), of the Illinois Fighting Illini; Henry Mabee (senior, Victoria, BC), of the Morehead State Eagles; Joshua Peley (sophomore, Montreal, Que.), of the Seminole State Trojans; Kyle Stryker (freshman, Mississauga, Ont.), of the Indiana-Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks and Jon Syrnyk (junior, Langley, BC), of the British Columbia Thunderbirds



How the week that was went for Schwartz and the rest of the Panthers as he:



_ Went 5-for-6 with two doubles and a homer as High Point edged the Radford Highlanders 13-10 in 10 innings before 125 fans at Dedmon Center Park in Radford, Va. For Schwartz it was his fifth homers. RP Tom Boleska (sophomore, Burlington, Ont.) took over in the eighth with the score tied 7-7. Boleska allowed four runs -- two earned -- on three hits and a walk. He struck out one in 1/3 of an inning.



_ Doubled in a 9-5 loss to Radford in front of 156 fans.



_ Had three hits including his 13th double and two RBIs in a 5-3 win against Radford. Boleska pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save. He allowed one hit and struck out a pair.



Schwartz won the Choice Hotels award (their week covers a different wing span than ours) by batting a team-leading

.522 with 12 hits, (five doubles, two home runs), 23 total bases and a 1.000 slugging percentage along with a .560 on-base percentage. Schwartz, the son of Kleinburgís second-best dairy farmer, recorded 13 of the teamís 37 total RBIs for the week (35 %) had a hit in every game and had three multi-hit contests extending his consecutive-game hitting streak to 10 games. He

also posted four multi-RBI games.

The Choice Hotel player of the week the week before -- which we missed was 2B Jeff Cowan (sophomore, Scarborough, Ont.). Cowan led the Panthers to a series victory in their Big South opener with the Liberty Flames. He batted .611 for the week (11-18) including a .643 average against the Flames. Cowan had four-straight multi-hit performances, including a 4-5 outing with two runs scored in HPU's 10-2 win over Liberty. He went 3-4 with three RBIs against LU and reached based 11

times and posted a .688 on-base percentage against Liberty (.667 overall). He also went 2-4 with an RBI against the 22nd-ranked East Carolina Pirates earlier in the week. Cowan led High Point with 13 total bases and slugged .722 on the week, and finished with three runs scored, five RBI, two doubles and two walks in four games.

Cowan, Schwartz and Boleska all played for Team Ontario coach Danny Thompson.



How the week went for Braumberger and his friends at Friends:



_ He pitched a no-hitter in a 17-1 Friends win against Sterling. Braumberger allowed one unearned run, walking one. He struck out three. The 6-foot-4 righty is now 4-1.

He scored earlier wins against the Oklahoma Baptist Bison, the St. Mary Spires and the Tabor Blue Jays. He also worked 6 1/3 scoreless innings getting a no decision against Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes. He has a 2.41 earned run average (10 earned runs in 37 1/3 innings.

Toss out his loss against Oklahoma Baptist, a 15-4 loss when he allowed eight runs in 3 2/3 innings and he has an ERA_of 0.54 (two earned runs in 33 1/3 innings).



And how the week went at Indiana Tech:



_ Loglisci pitched a seven-inning no-hit 2-0 win against the Concordia Cardinals in Ann Arbor, Mich. He walked four and struck out eight. The Warriors led 2-0 heading into the top of the seventh inning. With the no hitter, Loglisci pushes his mark to 2-0 on the season with a 3.47 ERA. With the win, Indiana Tech improved its mark in the WHAC to 6-0 as Indiana Tech extended its string to to 32-straight scoreless innings and a 19-6-1 on the season and currently riding a 13-game winning streak.



_ RHP Bobby Scott (junior, Victoria, BC) pitched four innings as Indiana Tech edged Concordia 4-3. Scott put up four zeros in his scoreless outing allowing three hits while walking four and striking out four. Scott worked around some early game walks to keep the Warriors in the game. Scott, who threw four innings of scoreless baseball, looked like he was heading for his second win of the season until Concordia mustered up three runs to take the lead during the fifth.



_ RP Loglisci picked up the save as Indiana Tech edged St. Francis-Indiana Cougars 14-9 at Warrior Field. He allowed two hits and struck out three. Loglisci came on in the seventh with the score tied 7-7. The Warriors took a one-run lead in bottom of the seventh and then pushed across some more cushions.

The no hitter earned the 6-foot-4 Loglisci first the Wolverine-Hoosier Conference Pitcher of the Week, Region VIII Pitcher of the Week and then NAIA Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors.

Loglisci, who began playing baseball at the T-ball level in Victoria, B.C. He then moved on to the Victoria Rockets system, before moving on to the Nanaimo Pirates, Nanaimo Mariners and the Victoria Royals. He began his college career at Southern Idaho before transferring to Indiana Tech, where he is studying recreation management.

Loglisci, who pitched for Dan Rogers of Nanaimo Pirates in the B.C. Premier League, was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 34th round of the 2005 draft.



Canadians who were honoured:



_ RHP Shayne Wilson (freshman, White Rock, BC). of the Iowa Western Reivers was named the Iowa Conference Athlete of the Week. The 6-foot-3 starter pitched four innings against the Marshalltown Tigers. He allowed two hits, one run and a walk, while striking out seven. Wilson was drafted in the 16th round by the Minnesota Twins in 2006.



How Canadians fared in tournament play:



_ RF Bryan Abrey (freshman, Richmond, BC) had three hits, knocked in a run and stole a base as Merced Blue Devils knocked off the Hancock Bulldogs 8-4 in the Spring Classic Tournament at John Osborne Field in Santa Maria, Calif. ... Abrey hit his 15th double in a 13-4 loss to the Canyons Cougars at Elks Field in Santa Maria. ... Abrey singled in a 10-4 loss to the Cypress Charges at Sinsheimer Field in San Luis Obispo, Calif.



_ 1B David Van Ostrand (sophomore, Richmond, BC) had three hits, including two doubles and knocked in a pair of runs as the Alan Hancock Bulldogs fell 8-4 to the Merced Blue Devils State in the Spring Classic Tournament at John Osborne Field in Santa Maria, Calif. 3B Alex White (freshman, Richmond, BC) added a single. ... Van Ostrand singled in the tying run in the seventh but Hancock lost 6-4 to the Cerritos Falcons. Van Ostrand went 3-for-5, driving in a run. ... Van Ostrand singled home White in the fifth for a 7-3 lead, but the Harbor Bulldogs rallied for a 10-7 win.

_ RF Bryan Abrey (freshman, Richmond, BC) hit his 14th double and his fourth homer, a solo shot, as the Merced Blue Devils edged the Porterville Pirates 6-5 in 15 innings at Merced College in Merced, Calif.



_ LHP Andrew Albers (junior, North Battleford, Sask.) pitched 5 2/3 innings as the 8th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs 10-6 in front of 10,324 fans at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville, Miss. Albers allowed four runs -- two earned -- on 10 hits and one walk. He struck out a pair as he moved to 5-0. ... RP James Paxton (freshman, Ladner, BC) allowed two runs in 1/3 of an inning but was not involved in the decision as Kentucky was edged 10-7 by Mississippi State in front of 8,383 fans. He walked two and struck out one.



_ Brent Ashbaugh (junior, Tara, Ont.) singled as the Montreat Cavaliers lost 5-2 to King. ... Ashbaugh singled in a 7-1 loss to Chowan. ... He also singled in a 6-3 loss to Chowan.



_ 1B Kevin Atkinson (sophomore, Surrey, BC) was 3-for-5 with a double, a homer and three RBIs to help the New Mexico Thunderbirds knock off the Midland Chaparrals 12-9 at Hobbs, N.M. LHP J.R. Robinson (freshman, Burnaby, BC) garnered the win working 7 1/3 innings. He allowed seven runs -- six earned -- on eight hits and three walks. Robinson fanned an impressive 10. ... Atkinson had three hits and drove in a run in an 11-6 loss to Midland. ... Atkinson singled in an 11-8 win over the Chaps at Midland, Tx. ... Atkinson had a pair of hits as New Mexico knocked off Midland 13-4.



_ Adam Auer (senior, Waterloo, Ont.) was 3-for-3 with RBIs as the Colorado State-Pueblo ThunderWolves beat the Metro State Roadrunners 12-6 at Rawlings Field in Pueblo, Col. Auer drove in his first two runs in the first with a two-out single through the right side. Auer doubled up the middle in the fifth.



_ RP Daniel Baker (freshman, Calgary, Alta.) pitched three scoreless innings for the win as the Walla Walla Warriors edged Skagit Valley 7-6. Baker allowed one hit.



_ RP Eitan Barbalat (junior, Thornhill, Ont.) worked three scoreless as the Bradley Braves beat the St. Louis Billikens at OíBrien Field in Peoria, Ill. Barbalat allowed one hit and walked two, striking out a pair.



_ RP Alexander Beaulieu (junior, Levis, Que.) picked up his third for the Albany Great Danes knocked off the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights in front of 197 fans at FDU Tea Neck, N.J. Beaulieu worked the final scoreless innings. ... Beaulieu pitched a scoreless inning in a 12-5 win against Fairleigh Dickinson in front of 201 fans. ... Beaulieu worked an inning as Albany fell 5-2 to the Manhattan Jaspers at Varsity Field in Albany, N.Y. He allowed two runs on two hits in the ninth, while striking out a pair.



_ C Yannick Bergeron (senior, Sherbrooke, Que.) was 4-for-4 with three RBIs as the 19th-ranked St. Edward's Hilltoppers knocked off Incarnate Word 11-5 in front of 170 fans at Lucien-Hamilton in Austin, Tx. ... _ 3B Brian Blackburn (senior, London, Ont.) knocked in four Eastern Michigan Eagles runs in an 8-1 win against the Buffalo Bulls at Audubon Field in Buffalo, NY. Blackburn tripled and singled.



_ RP Aaron Boag (sophomore, Burlington, Ont.) pitched three scoreless innings and C Kevin Reimer (sophomore, Steinbach, Man.) had three hits as the Canisius Golden Griffs beat the Marist Red Foxes 8-6 before 105 fans at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, NY. Boag allowed two hits and struck out a pair as he moved to 1-1. Reimer hit his first triple and drove in a pair of runs. CF Branson Joseph (sophomore, Mississauga, Ont.) doubled, singled and knocked in a run. DH Ryan Asis (junior, Mississauga, Ont.) tripled and singled, while LF Ian Choy (freshman, Mississauga, Ont.) doubled and stole a base. RF Perry Silverman (freshman, Montreal, Que.) and 2B Adam Cholewka (junior, Waterdown, Ont.) each singled. ... Joseph hit his third double and Cholewka added his first. McGorman worked 1 2/3 innings allowing three hits on four runs, while MacKenzie pitched a scoreless inning. He allowed two hits and struck out one.



_ CF_ Nicholas Boisvert (senior, Laval, Que.) had three hits and drove in a run to help the Lynn Fighting Knights to an 11-10 win against the 13th-ranked Nova Southeastern in front of 116 fans at McCusker Sportsplex in Boca Raton, Fla. ... Boisvert hit his sixth homer, a solo shot, in an 8-5, 10-inning loss to Nova Southeastern in front of 287 fans. ... On the week Boisvert hit .308 (5-for-13) with a homer and two RBIs.



_ RP_Drew Boyer (freshman, Millet, Alta.) pitched 4 2/3 innings in an 8-0 Central Coppin State Eagles loss to the Norfolk State Spartans at Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover, Md. Boyer allowed two runs on three hits and two walks. He struck out one.



_ RHP Josh Brink (sophomore, Abbotsford, BC) started and had a no decision as the Western Nevada Wildcats lost 4-3 to the 13th-ranked Southern Nevada Coyotes before 335 fans at John L. Harvey Field in Carson City, Nev. Brink allowed one run on four hits and two walks in three innings. He struck out one.



_ RHP Andrew Brock (sophomore, Burnaby, BC) pitched six solid innings for the 23rd-ranked Albertson Coyotes against his home-province pals in a 7-5 win against the British Columbia Thunderbirds before 175 fans at Simplot Stadium in_Caldwell, Id. Brock allowed four runs on seven hits. He struck out two and was not involved in the decision.



_ CF Kevin Campbell (junior, Mississauga, Ont.) doubled and singled for the Northeastern State Redmen in a 3-1 win over Southwestern Oklahoma at SWOSU Park in Weatherford, Oak. ... Campbell tripled in a run in a 7-6 victory against Southwestern Oklahoma.



_ LHP Morgan Carlile (junior, Summerside, PEI) came within two outs of a complete game as the Campbellsville Tigers beat Cumberlands 7-4 at Tiger Stadium in Campbellsville, Ky. Carlile pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing four runs -- two earned on seven hits and three walks. he struck out five to go to 4-1. RF Temple Macdonald (junior, Charlottetown, PEI) had two hits, knocking in two runs, while CF Jason Neufeld (junior, LaSalle, Man.) had two hits and drove in a run. ... _ RP Chadwick Cameron (senior, Toronto, Ont.) worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win as the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks edged the Eastern Illinois 8-7 before 178 fans at Skyhawk Field in Martin, Tenn. Cameron struck out one. He retired the final out in the eighth, the Skyhawks scored in the bottom half and then he pitched a scoreless ninth. ... Cameron took the loss in an 8-7 defeat to Eastern Illinois before 244 fans. Cameron entered in the ninth with the score tied. He allowed one run on two hits. Cameron is now 2-2.



_ DH Phil Carey (sophomore, London, Ont.) knocked in a run as the Winthrop Eagles beat the UNC Asheville Bulldogs 5-2 in front of 749 fans at the Winthrop Ballpark in Rock Hill, SC. ... _ RHP Craig Chaput (sophomore, Ottawa, Ont.) wound up with the loss in a 4-1 Siena Saints loss to the Manhattan Jaspers before 110 fans at Siena Field in Loudonville, N.Y. Chaput allowed three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits and three walks. He struck out one and is now 0-5.



_ SS Mark Charrette (junior, Ottawa, Ont.) was 2-for-2 as the Shorter Hawks blanked the Faulkner Eagles 4-0. ... Charrette singled in a 3-0 loss to Faulkner. ... Trevor Miller (junior, Westlock, Alta.) and Charrette each singled in an 8-1 win against Atlanta Christian.



_ RP Faizan Choudhry (freshman, Langley, BC) worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings as the George Washington Colonials lost 11-9 to the Richmond Spiders in 10 innings before 207 fans at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va. Choudhry came on in the sixth and allowed one hit and three walks. He struck out two and left with GW trailing 9-7. ... Choudhry pitched two scoreless innings as George Washington beat Richmond 9-8 in front of 164 fans. He allowed one hit and fanned two.



_ C Joel Collins (sophomore, Richmond Hill, Ont.) had a pair of singles and drove in a run as the South Alabama Jaguars knocked off the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans 9-1 before 879 fans at Eddie Stanky Field in Mobile, Ala. 1B Michael Cart (senior, King City, Ont.) added a single. ... Collins singled in a 13-5 win against UALR in front of 611 fans.



_ SS Steve Condotta (senior, Mississauga, Ont.) was 4-for-5 with four RBIs on his ninth double and his second homer as the Florida Tech Panthers edged the 7th-ranked Florida Southern 8-7 at Seminick-Hall Field in Melbourne, Fla. ... _ SS David Cooper (junior, Edmonton, Alta.) was 4-for-6 and RHP Darrell Ellis (junior, Champion, Alta.) gained the win as the 15th-ranked Mount Olive Trojans humbled Anderson 28-7 before 300 fans at Anderson Memorial in Anderson, SC. Cooper knocked in two runs, hit a triple and stole a base. Ellis allowed five innings -- three earned -- on three hits and a walk. He fanned three to move to 5-1. ... RP Ted Pelech (junior, Vilna, Alta.) pitched three scoreless innings in a 5-2 loss to Anderson. Cooper had two hits. ... Cooper had two hits, driving in a pair in a 5-0 win over Anderson. ... _ RP Chris Cullen (junior, Tecumseh, Ont.) worked a scoreless inning as the Michigan State Spartans edged the class-A Lansing Lugnuts 4-3 in front of 6,223 fans at Oldsmobile Park in Lansing, Mich. Cullen got Sean Shoffit (drafted by the Jays in the 15th round of the 2005 draft) to fly out to left, Jon Jaspe (signed as an undrafted free agent in 2003) to fly out to centre and then struck out Matthew Lane (an 11th round pick in 2006).



_ RHP Mike Damchuk (senior, Sarnia, Ont.) worked a scoreless inning in a 9-8 Spalding Golden Eagles loss to Hanover. He struck out one.



_ RHP Geoff Davidson (junior, Peterborough, Ont.) worked five innings for the victory in a 14-2 Culver-Stockton Wildcats win against the Central Methodist Eagles at Estes Field in Fayette, Mo. Davidson allowed two unearned runs on six hits and three walks. he whiffed eight to move to 2-0.
