Canada drops a pair

Tanner Craswell and Leslie Williams each drove in a run for Team Canada in a 9-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

The Indians, composed of first and second-year pros, went up 8-0 by the fifth at Disney∂s Wide World of Sports.

Craswell (Charlottetown, PEI) knocked in the first run of the game to cut the Indians lead to 8-1 in the sixth inning.

Williams (Scarborough, Ont.) singled home Kyle Fillier (Toronto, Ont.) in the seventh.

RHP Kyle Benoit (Brampton, Ont.) was impressive, striking out four in two innings. He allowed one run on two hits.

RHP Cameron Gray (Toronto, Ont.) pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out one. The Detroit Tigers beat Canada 15-5 in an earlier game.

RHP Stosh Wawrzasek (Langley, B.C.) started and allowed a run on two hits and struck out a pair in his two innings.

The Tigers scored three in the third, seven in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the eighth for a 14-1 lead.

Canada scored four runs on five hits in the bottom of the eighth. Michael Mutcheson (Morden, Man.), Victor Spencer (Burnaby, BC), Ivan Hartle (North Vancouver, BC) and Marc Bourgeois (Granby, Que.) each drove in runs.
