Right-hander Phillippe Aumont pitched four innings in his next-to-last start for Team Canada before the June 7 draft.
Aumont did little to hurt his draft status pitching for the Junior National Team against the Seattle Mariners Rookie-Class Dominican summer league team.
Aumont (Gatineau, Que.) allowed six runs -- four earned -- in an 11-6 loss to the Mariners.
Aumont struck out seven in four innings, a 67 pitch outing. He threw 38 pitches between 92 and 98 miles per hour, 24 in excess of 94 MPH.
The 6-foot-7 righty allowed one walk and hit a batter. Aumont was tagged for a double but three of the hits allowed were infield hits. He will start again in the Dominican, his final start before the draft.
Catcher Jordan Wideman (Mississauga, Ont.) had a two-run triple, while James Kottaras (Markham, Ont.) was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
In the second game, the Mariners beat the juniors 5-1.
Brett Lawrie (Langley, BC) was 2-for-2 with a double. RHP Evan Hildenbrandt (Abbotsford, BC) started and allowed three runs -- two earned -- on two hits with three walks. He struck out five in three innings of work.
RP Colin Buckborough (Niagara Falls, Ont.) followed and allowed two runs on three hits and struck out five. RP Leslie Williams (Scarborough, Ont.) finished facing the minimum striking out two.
