Hold that Tiger.
That's what they were saying in the opposing dugouts during Atlantic Conference play in the Canadian Intercollegiate Baseball Association.
And no one could hold (or hit) the Tigers pitching as Dalhousie went 6-0 for the week, while allowing only two runs.
Double WOW!
Patrick MacInnis was as dominant as anyone on the Dal staff or as anyone in Canada, and he's our choice as Slam! Canadian Baseball Players of the Week for Week 5.
The award, however belated, recognized the best week of the Canadians playing at the 22 universities who field baseball teams in the fall.
MacInnis pitched the Dalhousie Tigers to a 7-1 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in his first outing at Beazley Field in Dartmouth, N.S. He then blanked the New Brunswick Cougars 7-0 at the Main Commons in Halifax.
MacInnis pitched a complete-game three-hitter, walking two and striking out nine to beat SMU and then he pitched another complete-game three-hitter against UNB, fanning 13.
MacInnis pitched two complete games, combining to allow one earned run in 14 innings walking four and striking out 22.
Opposing hitters batted .118 (6-for-51) against MacInnis in the two starts.
He allowed three singles, a double and two triples (one of which MacInnis did not allow to score) in the two games.
MacInnis, whose each appearance makes for an relaxing night for coach Ian Bower, is following in the footsteps of former dominant Maritime pitchers like Aaron Reed (Cape Breton) and Trevor Wamback (Dalhousie).
As for how the rest of the week went for Dal, besides the MacInnis outings:

_ Barrett Bellefontaine scattered eight hits allowing one run in a complete-game 3-1 win over SMU as he fanned five.
_ Brian Murphy pitched a three-hit shutout in 1-0 victory over the Cape Breton Capers. Murphy walked two and struck out five for the win.
_ Scott Oxner twirled a three-hit shutout, fanning six in a 3-0 win over Cape Breton.
_ Duncan MacLellan pitched a complete-game four hitter, fanning five in a 10-0 win over UNB.
And as for the rest of the action ...
