Team Canada did what it was supposed to do do at the World junior qualifier.

Canada beat Brazil 7-3 at Villahermosa, Mex. and the national Junior team upped its record to 3-2

Sheldon McDonald (Spruce Grove, Alta.) got the win, while Keith Atkinson (Surrey, B.C.) had two doubles, which drove in two runs.

McDonald fanned five, allowing three three hits in 5 1/3 scoreless innings.

The Canadians scored twice in the top of the second and McDonald kept the ball down, as far down on the map as Brazil for the win.

Kyle Orr (Victoria, B.C) drove in three runs with a double and a single.

Canada scored two runs in each the seventh and eighth innings.

Brazil was scoreless until the ninth when it scored three times against Orr.

Next up is an important game against Panama.

Canada needs a fourth-place finish to qualify for the world juniors, which will be held in Cuba. The playoff round begins Saturday and the top three teams will advance to the 2006 Worlds. Cuba, as the host receives an automatic bid, meaning a fourth place finish may be enough to qualify.

Do you think Jesse Litsch will bounce back and pitch for the Blue Jays again?
  Yes, the bullpen needs help
No, his injury was too severe
