Evan MacDonald is the fifth Brock University (St. Catharines, Ont.) wrestler to reach the Olympics. He earned a quota spot for Canada by placing eighth at the world championships in New York City, Canada's best result in men's competition.

He also placed first in 66 kilos at the 2003 Canadian Senior Championships and 2004 Acropolis International Tournament in Athens this past spring.

In Canadian university sport, MacDonald enjoyed a fabulous campaign and was named his university's male athlete of the year. He led Brock to its sixth consecutive CIS team wrestling title and 10th straight OUA Championship. In 2003-04, the All Canadian recorded an overall record of 23-2 (18-0 vs CIS/OUA opponents). In the OUA and CIS Championships he outscored his opponents 61-1.
