Kevin Sullivan is one of Canada's most successful international middle distance runners. His specialty is the 1,500 metres for which he holds the Canadian record at 3:31.71 set at an international meet in Rome, just weeks before the Sydney Olympics. He finished fifth at those Games, his first Olympic participation. Many called his showing in Sydney the best Canadian performance at the Games because the field's depth.

Sullivan made his first international impact with a bronze medal at the 1992 world juniors. In college he starred for the University of Michigan and took the NCAA 1,500 title in 1995. He graduated in civil engineering and still trains at Michigan with coach Ron Warhurst. He is married to former national track team member Karen Harvey since 1998.
