Brad Snyder heads to his third Olympics Games in Athens. The Canadian record holder in men's shot put at 20.79 metres, he was eliminated in the first round at his previous two Olympic appearances. He was 11th a the world championships last year. Snyder enjoyed a fine college career at the University of South Carolina where he graduated in criminal justice. He was an outdoor and indoor NCAA champion in 1998, a feat accomplished only by four times in 22 years.
Snyder plans to pursue a career as a police officer. His younger brother Trevor is a member of Canada's national junior team in men's javelin. His father played football at Bowling Green and is also a police officer.
