Veteran Petra Cada is qualified to compete in both women's singles and women's doubles at the Olympic Games. It's her second trip to the Games. The last time was in 1996 in Atlanta as a teenager after competing three years earlier at age 14 at her first world championships. In 2000 she just missed making the team to Sydney.
Cada moved to Canada with her family in 1984. She resided in Halifax for 10 years but headed to Ottawa with her mother at age 16 to train at the national training centre at Carleton University. She was introduced to the sport by her father at age eight.
In the 2002-2003 season, Cada played in the French league. She has a degree in human kinetics from the University of Ottawa and a Master's in International Business, specializing in European integration, from Carleton University. In 2002-2003 she took part in an exchange program at the World Health Organization in Brussels.
