In her first high level competition as a youngster, Marie-Pierre Gagné finished 49th out of 50 entries. But she never gave up and this summer she is headed to her first Olympic Games as a member of Canada's synchronized swimming team. Gagné was a member of Canada's fifth place team at the world championships last year.
She took up the sport at age six and enjoyed the technical and artistic challenges from the start. She earned her first national medal in 1996 in the 12-14 age category and helped Canada to gold for the time at the Americas Cup in 2001. She ambitions a career a law or in business.
