Andrew Hurd is best known as one of Canada's top distance freestylers. But this past season, his team at the University of Michigan was in short supply of sprinters and Hurd decided to help out. Since then he has gained a lot of confidence in the shorter distances.
That was proven at the Olympic trials where he qualified in the men's 400 freestyle with a Canadian record and made the 4X200 freestyle relay team as well.
"I can definitely go faster," he said. "It's great to be on that relay because I feel it has a shot at an Olympic medal. But my main focus is still the 400 and 1,500 freestyles. Those are my best events"
