Pitcher Auburn Sigurdson, is one of the newest members on the women's national softball team. She studies communications at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C.
She had initially gone to an American school on a scholarship but changed her mind.
She plans to pursue a career in journalism or magazine publishing.
At Simon Fraser, she threw a perfect game in 2002 striking out 12 of 15 batters. Her sister Jesse is a teammate at SFU. Auburn also plays for two local teams: the Delta Heat and Delta Renegades.
