Catcher Erin Cumpstone was among the group of eight initially named to the Olympic team last December. A member of the 2002 world championship team that finished ninth, Athens is her first Olympics. She is an education student at Simon Fraser University on Burnaby and her plans are to one day be a teacher.
She played ringette for Saskatchewan at the 1999 Canada Games and in high school she was an all star basketball player. Her mother Louise also plays competitive fast pitch softball in Saskatchewan.
