Lisa Ross is the skip for Canada's Yngling crew, a new sailing event, at the Olympic Games. Ross and her crew- Deirdre Crampton and Chantal Léger-on a tough battle for the Olympic spot against another Canadian team to gain the spot. It all came down to who did the best at the SPA Regatta in the Netherlands this past May and Ross led her squad to ninth to gain the tickets to Athens.
Ross grew up near the Lunenburg Yacht Club. She started sailing in the junior sailing program at the club at age eight and started serious racing at 12. In 1994, she won the Canadian Youth Championship and a berth to compete at the 1995 World Youth Championships in Bermuda where she placed 16th. At age 17, she represented Canada at the Pan Am Games in Laser Radial and was fifth.
Ross graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2000 with a degree in Marine Biology.
