Darcy Marquardt stars in a different event for the third straight year at a major international competition. At the Athens Olympics she is teamed with veteran Buffy Williams in women's pairs. Last year at the world championships she helped Canada to bronze in women's eights and at the 2002 worlds she took home a silver medal with the women's fours.
Marquardt and Williams joined forces this season. They won gold at in their international debut at Duisburg, Germany. "It's a learning process for us and we are building on each race," said Marquardt. "We realize there are more challenges ahead for us."
