Jon Mandick is part of Canada's men's lightweight fours crew for the Olympic Games. He brings some important experience to the table. He helped Canada to bronze in the event at the 2002 world championships while last year helped them to fifth at the worlds.
"We did a lot of work at our training camp in Italy and have been working with the heavyweight men's four, which has produced positive results," Mandick said recently about the lightweight fours crew preparations for Athens.
Mandick studied science at the University of Victoria and won the university's President's Trophy for combining academic and athletic excellence in 2002. At the U of Vic he captained the varsity rowing team for two seasons and was an academic all Canadian every year at the school. He plans to pursue his studies in medicine.
